One of the greatest problems in the elaboration of forestation programs using native species is the lack ofknowledge about seedling production. This study aimed to evaluate the growth ofBauhinÚJfoif=ta seedlings submitted to phosphorus leveis. Elevenday- old seedlings were transplanted to small tubettes (110 crrr') with pinus bark and vermiculite substratum base. The experiment was conducted in an entirely randomized delineation, with six P treatrnents: TO-control (substratum without P addition), Tl-50, T2- 100, T3-150, T4-200 and T5-250 mg drn", with five replications and 20 seedlings per replication, Mter 60 days, the seedlings presented a 98.2% survival rate and good root formation. The height varied in function ofP leveis, with maximum production up to the P dose of 250 mg drn "; 60 days after the transplant, similar behavior for leaf area and dry matter production was observed. Furthermore, the P incorporation increased the phosphorus (P), potassiurn (K) and nitrogen (N) accumulation in vegetable tissues. Seedling growth was positively influenced by P leveIs, and the maximum growth occurred up to the P dose of 250 mg drn". In conclusion, this characteristic showed that the species requires high leveIs ofP during initial growth, under the tubette system. |

A BRS Zuri é bastante semelhante à cv.
ABSTRACT - The forage cultivar BRS Zuri was released in 2014 to meet a market demand for a Panicum maximum Jacq. (syn: Megathyrsus maximus (Jacq.) B.K.Simon & S.W.L.Jacobs) cultivar with a high degree of resistance to the foliar fungus Bipolaris maydis that has been decimating pastures of cv. Tanzânia, considered to be highly susceptible. The cv. BRS Zuri is quite similar to cv. Tanzania in its morphological characteristics, but 10 to 12% more productive. It was selected based on yield, vigor, leaf width, quality, resistance to spittlebugs and to B. maydis. In the regional trials conducted in the Cerrado and Amazon biomes, cv. BRS Zuri showed higher forage production than cvs. Tanzania and Mombaça, with high adaptation in all evaluated locations. It presents good resistance by antibiosis and medium resistance by tolerance to the three genera of spittlebugs, similar to cv. Tanzânia. In the evaluation under grazing in Acre, its potential for animal production was confirmed by the greater carrying capacity, greater weight gain per animal and greater weight gain per area in the wet and dry seasons, as well as greater ease of management than cv. Tanzânia. It has also been shown to be tolerant of poorly drained soils in the Amazon. Also, in evaluations at Embrapa Dairy Cattle, BRS Zuri showed excellent adaptation to intensive management with high regrowth speed, high forage production and high milk production per hectare during the rainy season. The lack of cultivars of P. maximum with resistance to the foliar fungus, indicated for intensification of the production systems and of easier management, makes cultivar BRS Zuri an important alternative to diversify areas currently planted with cultivars of P. maximum. All these characteristics contribute to the sustainable intensification of livestock in Brazil. This cultivar contributes to the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, 3 and 8.
